High Strength Rib Lath, Suitable for Plastering & Stucco Construction

Rib lath is made from galvanized (or stainless) steel strips that are slit, expanded, and drawn by specialized machinery, featuring V-shaped ribs for enhanced tensile strength. The longitudinal ribs ensure a consistent plaster depth over large and deep surfaces. It is widely used as a base for plastering and stucco construction on walls and suspended ceilings.

Type

  • Rib lath without paper: A type of expanded metal lath with longitudinal reinforcing ribs, used to enhance the strength and support of plaster systems. Common specifications include 1/8" flat rib lath for general use, 3/8" high rib lath for medium loads, and 7/8" high rib lath for heavy-duty applications. It is widely used for plastering work on masonry, wood, or metal structure walls and ceilings.
  • Paper backed rib lath: A high-strength metal lath with a kraft paper backing, designed to reduce plaster loss on open structures. It is suitable for plastering applications that require stronger support and better coverage.

Features

  • High strength and flexibility. V-shaped ribs enhance overall rigidity, allowing the lath to withstand concrete pouring pressure and distribute stress, preventing structural cracking.
  • Excellent permeability. It facilitates even application and firm bonding of plaster or mortar.
  • Durability. Made from galvanized or stainless steel, it is corrosion resistant and suitable for humid environments and outdoor projects.
  • Versatility. It functions both as formwork support and permanent structural reinforcement, with a no-removal design that saves labor time.

Application

Made of expanded metal, rib lath is the ideal material as a background for plaster, render, stucco application in construction of suspended ceilings partition.
