Block Work Mesh for Crack Prevention in Concrete & Masonry Walls

Block work mesh is an anti-crack reinforcement material made from expanded metal, designed to enhance the tensile strength of brick and block masonry. When embedded in mortar joints, it forms a continuous, joint-free reinforcement layer that effectively resists stress, vibration, and thermal expansion/contraction, minimizing cracking. Typically installed at every other layer and positioned approximately 25 mm from the wall surface, it is suitable for general wall construction as well as stress-prone areas such as door and window openings.

Type

  • Strip lath: A flat expanded metal strip used for plaster reinforcement at joints between solid substrates or connections of dissimilar substrates. It offers flexible application on irregular surfaces.
  • Coil lath: Made from galvanized steel sheet with diamond-shaped openings, and then coiled by a winding machine, it is widely used as a stucco underlayment for crack prevention and in large-area plastering projects.

Features

  • Crack prevention & reinforcement. It effectively prevents wall cracking and enhances structural stability.
  • Flexible installation. it adapts to curved and irregular surfaces.
  • High corrosion resistance. Galvanized coating provides rustproof durability, extending service life.
  • Lightweight & easy to apply. It reduces labor intensity and improves work efficiency.

Application

Block work mesh is widely used in brick and block walls as an anti-crack reinforcement material. By embedding it in mortar joints, it enhances the structure's tensile strength and prevents cracking caused by stress concentration, temperature variations, or vibration.
